Daywise Itinerary

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. Spend the day acclimatizing while exploring Paro’s cultural treasures. Visit Rinpung Dzong, an impressive fortress overlooking the valley, and the National Museum (Ta Dzong) to learn about Bhutan’s rich heritage. End the day with a visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples.
Overnight in Paro (Altitude: 2,200m).

Embark on a scenic drive to Chele La Pass (3,988m), Bhutan’s highest motorable pass. Enjoy stunning panoramic views of Mount Jomolhari (7,326m) and other Himalayan peaks. From the pass, take a short hike to Kila Gompa, a cliffside nunnery with a peaceful atmosphere. Return to Paro in the afternoon and prepare for the trek ahead.

Drive to Shana (2,850m), the starting point of the Jomolhari Trek. Trek along the Paro Chhu River, passing through dense pine forests and small Bhutanese hamlets. Cross wooden bridges and enjoy views of the surrounding peaks.

Continue trekking through rugged terrain, dense forests, and alpine meadows. Gradually gain altitude while following the Paro Chhu River, with glimpses of snow-capped mountains in the distance. Reach Soi Thangthangkha, where the first clear view of Mount Jomolhari appears.

Trek through open pastures and yak herder camps, gaining altitude as you approach Jangothang (Jomolhari Base Camp, 4,080m). Upon arrival, be rewarded with a stunning close-up view of Mount Jomolhari, standing majestically against the sky. Spend the rest of the day acclimatizing.

Spend the day exploring the stunning landscapes around Jomolhari Base Camp. Take a short hike to Tsho Phu Lakes, a pair of crystal-clear glacial lakes reflecting the towering peaks. Encounter blue sheep grazing on the rocky slopes and take in the breathtaking scenery of Bhutan’s alpine wilderness.

Trek over Bhonte La Pass (4,890m), the highest point of the trek, before descending into Lingshi Valley. Enjoy sweeping views of Lingshi Dzong, the surrounding snow-capped peaks, and vast yak pastures.

Trek over Yeli La Pass (4,820m), a high mountain pass with spectacular views of the Himalayan range. Descend into the valley, passing rivers, waterfalls, and dense rhododendron forests.

Follow the Thimphu Chhu River, trekking through scenic gorges and lush forested valleys. Arrive at Barshong, where a small dzong sits against a backdrop of towering cliffs.

Trek through dense pine forests and open pastures, gradually descending to Dolam Kencho. From here, drive back to Thimphu, where you can relax and celebrate the completion of the trek.

Spend the day exploring Bhutan’s capital. Visit Tashichho Dzong, the National Memorial Chorten, and take a walk through the bustling Thimphu markets. In the evening, unwind at a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath to soothe your muscles after the trek.
