Daywise Itinerary

  • Upon arrival in Paro, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. This day is for acclimatization to the altitude (Paro is at 2,280 meters).
  • Enjoy a leisurely walk around Paro town, visit Rinpung Dzong, and Kyichu Lhakhang (one of Bhutan’s oldest temples). You can also stroll around the Paro valley and relax before your trek.
  • Nightlight: Overnight in Paro (altitude: 2,280 meters).
  • After a relaxing start, take the iconic hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of Bhutan's most famous landmarks. The round-trip trek is 56 kilometers with a 900-meter elevation gain. The hike takes about 2-3 hours to reach the monastery, perched at 3,120 meters above Paro Valley.
  • Visit the monastery’s temples and caves, learning about its spiritual significance.
  • In the afternoon, you will visit Kyichu Lhakhang for more cultural exploration.
  • Nightlight: Overnight in Paro.
  • After breakfast, drive to the trailhead to begin your trek. The day’s trek is approximately 10 kilometers, with a 1,100-meter elevation gain, and you will reach Jele Dzong (altitude: 3,420 meters).
  • The trail passes through forests of oak and pine, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Jele Dzong is a historic fortress with sweeping vistas.
  • Nightlight: Overnight at Jele Dzong.
  • Today’s trek takes you to Jangchulakha, covering a distance of 10 kilometers with a 400-meter elevation gain, reaching altitude: 3,780 meters.
  • The trail is surrounded by alpine meadows and forests, with occasional views of Mount Jomolhari. You may spot yak herders in the area, which is known for its high-altitude lifestyle.
  • Nightlight: Overnight at Jangchulakha.
  • Today, you will trek 11 kilometers, with a 350-meter elevation gain to the Jimilangtso Lake at altitude: 4,080 meters.
  • The lake is surrounded by majestic peaks and is known for its crystal-clear waters. The trail passes through high-altitude meadows and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
  • Nightlight: Overnight at Jimilangtso Lake.
  • The trek today covers 14 kilometers with an 800-meter elevation loss, reaching altitude: 3,520 meters at Phajoding.
  • Along the way, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayas and descend through alpine meadows, passing yak herders' camps.
  • Nightlight: Overnight at Phajoding.
  • On the final day of your trek, descend 12 kilometers with an elevation loss of 1,000 meters to Thimphu (altitude: 2,320 meters).
  • After reaching Thimphu, enjoy a free afternoon for sightseeing, shopping, or visiting places you may have missed earlier, such as Tashichho Dzong or the National Folk Heritage Museum.
  • Nightlight: Overnight in Thimphu.
  • Depending on your departure time, take a final stroll around Thimphu or do some last-minute shopping before transferring to Paro International Airport for your departure.
